Nils Oscar Brown Ale 330ml, 4.6% - Sweden

Pours red with a tan head.

Slightly roasted malts. Bread, caramel and hints of biscuits!

Roasted malts in the flavor. Caramel and hints of dark fruits. This needs more flavor!

Samuel Smith's Nut Brown Ale 550ml, 5% - England

I bought a few SS brews on my previous trip to Denmark. Never tried any of them before, so this was pretty exciting.

We'll start off with Nut Brown Ale.

Poured brown red into a tulip. Crispy golden head, with some lacing.

Smells like almond nuts, hints of caramel, smokey smell.

Roasted malts with bitter hops. Slightly noticeable touch of caramel, smokey after taste. After half of the glass I even got a taste of a strong, cold tea.

Feels very soft and gentle in the mouth. Well balanced carbonation and I think the abv level is just about right for this beer.

Umbel Traditional Ale 500ml, 3.8% - England

Let's try this English Brown Ale..

Poured darkish amber color, almost no head.

Very rich aroma here.. I get citrus, hops, spices, flowers, sweetness.. Very delightful smell!

I took the first sip and whoah! What an amazing blend of flavors. I mean honestly, I didn't expect anything from this ale. I taste citrus (lot's of it), spices, some pepper, coriander, hoppy bitterness. The taste has this very perfumy touch to it, even some soap.

I was skeptical at first that the ABV is low, but this rich and weird blend of flavors balance each other out.

To be honest, I didn't enjoy this beer a lot, but it was quite fun trying something completely new and unusual.
